We visited the Museum and found out that the weather in New Zealand was very different in the ancient
past. Different plants and animals used to grow here in the South. Kauri trees and coconut trees once grew here in the South Island, when it used to have hot weather. Now it is a cooler climate and they no longer grow here. We found fossils of old plants and creatures. Click on these photos to take a closer look. Can you find plant shapes in these rocks?
