MUSEUM VISIT - WEATHER

We visited the Museum and found out that the weather in New Zealand was very different in the ancient
past.  Different plants and animals used to grow here in the South. Kauri trees and coconut trees once grew here in the South Island, when it used to have hot weather.  Now it is a cooler climate and they no longer grow here.  We found fossils of old plants and creatures. Click on these photos to take a closer look. Can you find plant shapes in these rocks?

SESAME STREET MONSTERS

Mia's Mum, Zehavit showed us how to make Sesame Street monsters with clay.  We loved it. We learnt to roll, squeeze and squish the clay, and then we painted our models with special clay paint.  We look forward to seeing our artwork after it has been fired in the kiln.

SONG BONG WEST AFRICAN DRUMMING

Lots of drumming boomed throughout the school when Song Bong visited us.  Their music was from West Africa and we enjoyed their rhythms.  Even the teachers had a go!

OUR DOG VISITOR

We had a special visitor to our class.  A very friendly dog came into our class and we learnt the best ways to greet a dog.

Chemistry Magic Show

In the last week of Term 1 we had some very special visitors.  They were scientist from the University of Otago, and they had a Chemistry Magic Show for us.  They did lots of experiments and made things pop, fizz, crack and smash. There were lots of chemical changes.  We were amazed and surprised!
